A purported story circulating online has warned people to be wary of a Chinese Company allegedly using human bodies to produce cornedbeef.
A video circulating online has claimed that a Chinese company is turning dead human bodies into corned beef and selling it the product to Africa. The video which has circulated online has attracted the attention of people and caused commotion online.
The claim was made by a Facebook user, then spread to Whatsapp and other social media platform that China was making corned beef with dead bodies and selling the products to Africa purportedly showing the morbid operation, how the process is conducted.
It has now been confirmed that the story is false. In fact, the photographs being circulated come from a number of sources, but at least one of them was taken from a 2012 marketing stunt for the video game Resident Evil 6, in which a butcher shop selling fake "human meat" was set up at London's Smithfield Market.
The meat market is not, of course, selling actual human meat, but they are selling meat, mostly pork varieties, rather disturbingly shaped to resemble humans. Along with a variety of human ears, hands, feet, and heads, brave consumers can also purchase carefully recreated sausage fingers and, yes, phalluses.
People have been told to disregard the video and photos as they are meant to cause commotion and put the name of the companies involved in bad light.
Also, China has denied shipping marinated human flesh in cans to be sold as FOOD in Africa. A top official has dismissed reports in Zambia which queried the provenance of some 'meat products' being shipped from China to the African continent.
In the media reports, an unnamed Zambian woman living in China reportedly issued warnings to Africans not to eat corned beef.
She claimed that dead human bodies were being collected and marinated before being canned and labelled as corned beef for human consumption .
But the statement, issued by the Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Yang Youming, blames people spreading "malicious" rumours.
He told Chinese news agency Xinhua : "Today a local tabloid newspaper is openly spreading a rumour, claiming that the Chinese use human meat to make corned beef and sell it to Africa.
"This is completely a malicious slandering and vilification which is absolutely unacceptable to us."
"We hereby express our utmost anger and the strongest condemnation over such an act."
