Nigerian Customs Seize 102 Bags Of “Plastic Rice”

The Nigerian Customs service has announced the seizure of 102 bags of what is has called “plastic rice”. Although the Custom Service did not disclose where the bags of rice were imported from, it simply said that
upon boiling, the rice appeared to be sticky.

Lagos Customs boss, Haruna Mamadu said investigations are under way to determine how many of the bags had already been supplied to unsuspecting traders.

Plastic rice was first discovered in China last year and the customs boss warned “economic saboteurs who see yuletide season as a peak period for their nefarious acts to desist from such illegal acts”.
