Rivers police recovers more than 11,000 arms, ammunition in few months
in Port Harcourt.
Spokesman of the Command, Ahmad Mohammad said the ammunition and other weapons recovered were the outcome of a mop-up process to reduce the proliferation of arms in Rivers state.
DSP Mohammad also disclosed that more than six-hundred suspects were arrested for different crimes with many currently facing charges in court.
The Police spokesman further said the arms recovery and array of arrested criminal suspects were due to the relentless effort of the police to rid Rivers state of crimes.
He,however, appealed to the general public to continue to co-operate with the police, especially in terms of relevant and useful information.
“I enjoin the good people of Rivers state to remain calm, hopeful, confident and trusting in our ability to diligently discharge our constitutional mandate of ensuring public peace and security as well as upholding democratic tenets and the freedom of the people,” he said.
The Rivers state Police Command also displayed the new uniform for officers of the State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
