Oby Ezekwesili bemoans diversion of arms procurement funds

A former Minister of Education and Bring Back Our Girls campaigner, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili on Thursday expressed her disappointment at the alleged diversion of $2.1bn meant for the purchase of arms by the immediate past National Security Adviser
(NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

Describing the said diversion as shameful and irritating in a series of tweets posted on her Twitter page (@obyezeks), she lamented that so many Nigerians had lost their lives to the Boko Haram insurgency due to the embezzlement of monies meant for the purchase of arms to fight the insurgents.

She expressed sadness that none of the parties involved in the act spared a thought for their fellow citizens and the country while sharing the money. This, she said, is a show of shame and gross wickedness.

The tweets read, “If this abominable #DasukiGate saga does not mark a TURNING POINT in judicial sanction of &public intolerance of Corruption, NO HOPE NIGERIA

“I have no word for the “defenders of rot” who combine corrupt mindset with ignorance to “lecture” us on “Security Vote” being a “Largess”.

“The “SHARING” went round. I wonder when we produced “Bill Gates” that can place a N600million bail in this country.

“Impunity is the only explanation one can deduce as the reason the ex-NSA felt no qualms diverting arms money for private political gain; this is saddening.”
