List of The 7 Most Important Sectors In Buhari’s Administration And Targets Set For The Ministers

Following the administration of oath of office to the 36 recently appointed ministers, a list of different sectors where President Muhammadu Buhari has primary interest in and how much he expects the ministers to perform based on his
party's manifesto. However, the president insists that the number of Nigerians the administration is able to pull out of poverty is his number one yardstick

AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY - Massive and comprehensive re-organisation and revolutionalisation of the Agricultural Industry and to supply the raw material for industrial processing and manufacturing.

POWER - Expansion of electricity generation and distribution of up to 40,000 megawatts in four to eight years.

TRANSPORTATION: Complete Revamp the railways, waterways and road transportation

MINERAL AND STEEL DEVELOPMENT – To Create policies that will heavily exploit solid mineral resources in all parts of Nigeria in a bid to create jobs, alleviate poverty and provide critical infrastructure.

EDUCATION - Target up to 10 per cent of Nigeria’s annual budge to education. Implement and enforce the provisions of the Universal Basic Education Act. Reinstate the now abandoned Teacher Teaching Colleges to train teachers. Re-introduce Technical and vocational education nationwide.

HEALTH – Provide primary health care facilities across Nigeria. Increase quality of all Federal Government owned hospitals to world class standard within five years. Provide free ante-natal care for pregnant women, free health care for babies and children up to school age and for the aged and free treatment for those afflicted with infectious disease such as tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS and to boost the local manufacture of 70 per cent of pharmaceuticals and make drugs for HIV/AIDS available.

DEFENCE – End Boko Haram Insurgency in the North East by December 2015. Fully Equip the Army and to rid the institution of any form of corruption and sharp practices. Neutralize any internal uprising and defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
